I 'm interested in signs which were an early form of writing. Signs can tell us things, prompt associations and so on. Even highly complex computer code is broken down to and stored as two signs, numbers or bits: 0 and 1. So a whole lot of signs can, depending on how they're assembled and read, create meaning.

In Chinese "writing" and "painting" are two apects of the same word. Recently I've also used light-reflecting materials in my works as light is an essential aspect of our existence, and I wanted to underline that. The three works on board are experiments in "writing a "painting" using signs and light.

These "Code Paintings" were being created when the invitation to "Cornelius Gene" came; I see then as an extension of that idea.
